In Saturday's post, I spoke of three questions related to the use of technology that I asked of 614 Alabama principals in 1997. Those questions and the results are as follows:
Do you personally use:
- Voice mail? 15% Yes 85% No
- E-mail? 29% Yes 71% No
- Word processing program? 75% Yes 25% No
My next question is, "As the use of smart phones as productivity tools rises among teachers and administrators, are we likely to see a different attitude towards student use of smart phones?"
We have a choice:
- Hang on to the policies of the past.
- Look into the future and shape policies that will help our students meet the demands of a changing world.
P.S. Thanks to Dr. Henry Clark for causing me to ask the questions 12 years ago which seemed so insignificant at the time. The contrast between then and now gives us some idea of the change we can expect over the next decade.

Frank - interesting that our minds are in the same place.... This link is to a cell phone lesson plan I thought I was finished with last week. Thanks for the additional resources, I added them to my resource page and now I am finished. :-) Cell Phones: Immoral, Illegal, or Just Plain Rude? Let me know if you have any suggestions.
Beth,
The link to your article doesn't seem to be working. I would love to take a look at your work.

Sorry - I notice some HTML could be used in comments, so I tried it and it didn't work. The link is

Beth,
Great looking lesson plan and right on point. It's so good to hear from you.
There is a way to put links in comments. I'm not real up on html code, but I did see the "formula" somewhere some time ago and copied it down. I will e-mail it to you.
Thanks!
Frank
I used the html tags for the link -some blogs will not accept anything other that simple html like bold or italics.
Thanks for the comments on the lesson plan.
